Science, Technology, & Engineering PRACTICES
How all students K-12 should learn science
The new Massachusetts Science, Technology & Engineering standards adopted in January 2016 include 8 practices that progress from grade Pre-K till 12th grade. These practices are represent the ways that students should experience and become proficient while learning science. They represent the way that scientists do science and therefore are the way that students should learn science.
The MakerSpace classroom has integrated these practices into the curriculum and helps students to build these skills. They also represent the integration of Math and ELA into the science & engineering curriculum. This integration fits into the STEAM vision of the curriculum for the MakerSpace at Oak Bluffs School.
